Dear Valued Chamber Members,
We hope this newsletter finds you enjoying a successful and fulfilling summer. As the busy season continues, we want to remind you that the Chamber is here to support our members. We welcome you to communicate and keep us informed of your upcoming events, job openings, and important updates. This allows us to help advertise and support you effectively. Members can communicate via the website tools or send us an email with details and information.
New Monthly Advertisement
Our Executive Director has put together an advertisement for the month of August highlighting member events. Aiming for this to be a regular monthly occurrence, our goal is to more efficiently advertise members and community. These ads can be updated! Please let us know if you have an event to add. Moving forward, please keep us informed of any special Labor Day Weekend events, and those coming in September by August 20th.
Upcoming Elections & Open Board Seats
With our yearly Election coming at the end of September (date TBD), there are open seats to be filled on the Chamber Board. We welcome our Chamber and community members (eligible with an Individual Membership) to attend the upcoming monthly meetings at the Welcome Center on August 7th and September 4th, 5:30pm. Join us and learn more about Board responsibilities and becoming a member.
Wednesday Market
With regret, a recent decision was made to cancel the new Wednesday market for the remainder of this season. After canceling several weeks in a row due to weather, vendor attendance had dwindled, making it difficult to maintain regularity. This decision was made to avoid further cancellations and confusion. We will revisit the idea for next season and discuss ways to make it more successful.
Michigan Walleye Tour Championship
We’re thrilled to announce that Port Austin will host the Michigan Walleye Tour Championship in August 2025! This is a significant event for our community, marking the tournament's 30th anniversary. We will share more details as we receive them, and look forward to showing our Port Austin hospitality.
Pickleball Tournament - Gallup Park Fundraiser
Over the last year, Certified Professional Coach Ben Lacy, has successfully brought Pickleball to Port Austin. With his passion for the sport and this community, Ben will be hosting a Fundraising Pickleball Tournament for Gallup Park. Funds raised will be put towards resurfacing and painting the courts, the installation of dedicated Pickleball courts, and other facility updates. Upcoming Chamber Events
Get ready for two fantastic events this September!
This year, Carfest has evolved into a dual event - The Port Austin Summer Sendoff. Featuring Carfest as normal, additional activities include Games, vendors offering glitter tattoos, permanent jewelry, and a hat bar, limited food trucks, and more! The Summer Sendoff will rev up on September 7th.
Girls Weekend will take place September 13th to 15th, with the theme “GLITTER & GLAM”. Planning for the itinerary is underway and we are anticipating another great turnout this year.
Both events are open to collaborating with members on related activities. Of particular importance, please let us know if you would like to host an activity or event to be featured on the Girls Weekend itinerary. Deadline for adding to the Girls Weekend is Friday, August 16th.
Summer Sendoff Volunteers
Events wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated volunteers! The Summer Sendoff is looking for some extra helping hands. Volunteer opportunities include: assisting with registration and beer tent, 50/50 raffles, and other activities. Call or email the Chamber to volunteer! We appreciate your help.
