The Huron County Nature Center is now accepting applications for a Summer Visitor Center position for the 2026 season. The paid internship runs from late May through late August and offers a valuable opportunity for someone interested in environmental education, conservation, and nonprofit operations.

Located between Caseville and Port Austin, the Nature Center provides visitors with scenic walking trails, educational exhibits, and information about local wildlife and natural habitats along Michigan’s Lake Huron shoreline.

The selected intern will serve as the primary on-site representative during scheduled shifts. Responsibilities include opening and closing the Visitor Center, welcoming guests, answering questions about trails and exhibits, assisting with gift shop sales through a Point of Sale system, providing general information about the local area, and maintaining a clean and inviting facility.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and comfortable working independently. This position is especially well-suited for college students studying environmental science, biology, ecology, conservation, education, or related fields. Board members live nearby and are available by phone if support is needed.

This internship provides hands-on public engagement experience in a peaceful outdoor setting while serving visitors to one of Huron County’s natural treasures.
