Parks, Beaches & Trails
There are plenty of great parks to choose from in and around Port Austin. The Village itself, though only one-square mile in size, has 4 parks, including Veterans Waterfront Park and Bird Creek Park on the shoreline, both with sandy beaches, pavilions and play areas. At Gallup Park you’ll find baseball fields, basketball & volleyball courts, and even an ice rink in the winter months!
Another half dozen parks and beaches are close by (ten minutes or less from downtown).
Trails include a five-mile long hiking trail at Port Crescent State Park, hiking and off-road biking trails at the Huron County Nature Center, and the “Tip of the Thumb Heritage Water Trail” for kayakers and canoeists.

McGraw park is known for its beautiful sandy beach. You can access the beach through an informal set of steps and sandy slopes from the parking area. The park also has picnic tables and a bathhouse for your enjoyment. During the winter the park is also great for ice fishing.
